What is homeopathy?

What Is Treatment Like?

Homeopathic treatment is directed by your individual, unique symptoms, your mental and emotional patterns, and genetic blueprint. In contrast, conventional medicine seeks to treat all people with a given complaint with the same medicine. Your unique patterns can actually predict the way illness or imbalance will show up in your body, and are used to direct the course of treatment.

The medicines work by stimulating your body’s natural ability to heal itself — acting as a catalyst for healing. In order to successfully chose a medicine, your doctor needs to gather details about your health complaints. Additionally, she wants to understand who you are as a person, not just about your disease or pain. To that end, your personal relationships, challenges in work, leisure preferences, and dreams are all considered to reflect your archetypal makeup. In coming to understand you, your doctor is able to choose a medicine that is exactly right for you and only you.

During your first comprehensive homeopathic consultation, your doctor will spend up to two hours listening to your story. Follow up visits are recommended every 6 weeks or more and last approximately forty minutes.

History

Homeopathic treatment was developed 200 years ago by Samuel Hahnemann MD. Inspired by the idea "like cures like," he experimented with toxic substances to see how he could make medicine out of them without harming people. He discovered that by diluting and shaking repeatedly (a process he named potentization), many substances found in the natural world were able to profoundly cure diseases.

Safety

Approximately 120,000 people die every year from physician mistakes, including misuse or incorrect pharmaceutical prescriptions. In the last 200+ years since homeopathy was developed, there have been zero deaths as a result of having taken a homeopathic medicine. In fact, during the 1918 Flu about 80% of people treated with medicine died, while > 60% of people treated with homeopathy survived. Conventional medicine has been critical to saving lives, but less successful at treating chronic health complaints.

Worldwide Practice Today

More than 250,000 physicians practice homeopathy in India alone, and 10 million people are being treated with it. Millions in South America, Italy, Spain, England, and Germany regularly use homeopathy. In the U.S., one out of 6 MDs at the turn of the century practiced homeopathy! Infants and animals, along with skeptical adults, have been successfully treated for everything from allergies to flus to endocrine disorders to autoimmune disease. Even cancer is treated with homeopathy in other countries where it is legal to do so. In the U.S., MDs and holistic healthcare providers such as NDs as well as Psychotherapists practice Homeopathy.

Overcoming chronic illness, painful syndromes, and dissatisfaction with emotional triggers requires being in the compassionate presence of a skilled practitioner who recognizes the source of these feelings and understands how they have served you in your life.

At Fertile Ground you will be seen and heard as a human being.

What can homeopathy help?

Homeopathic treatment is helpful for your hormone imbalances and sexual dysfunction, such as PMS, infertility, post-partum symptoms, and menopause; for low libido, chronic testicular or vaginal pain; for other reproductive system complaints and intimacy problems.

Homeopathy can dramatically enhance results in psychotherapy for codependence, addictions, or have a history of trauma, or are stuck in old emotional patterns .

If you're a parent struggling with a child who has been diagnosed with ADD or is dealing with post traumatic stress disorder, you may want to explore homeopathy as a means of reducing the need for pharmaceuticals. Homeopathy is gentle, safe and effective for childhood behavioral, mood, and learning problems, as well as many acute childhood illnesses.

Treatment does not cause side effects, and over time often reduces the need for prescription medications. However, it is never a good idea to quit medication before first consulting your prescribing doctor.

Each prescription requires hours of research in order to find an appropriate medicine. To get a deep-acting medicine, it is necessary to customize each prescription. Once a curative medicine is given, visits become less frequent. As your condition improves, the cost of treatment becomes less and less. The patient’s new-found health becomes self-sustaining, so future visits become rarely necessary.

The process of healing varies from person to person, depending on how ill you are, on your level of vitality, and on the accuracy of the prescription itself. In general, the longer you’ve had the condition, the longer the process takes.

It is best to see Dr. Albert in person for your first consultation. Follow ups can be done by phone for patients outside of Seattle. Patients on Vashon will receive house call visits. The first visit is scheduled for 1 1/2–2 hours. Follow ups are every 4-6 weeks in the beginning and then every 3–6 months.

Fees are structured per appointment rather than on a time basis. The fee includes the opportunity to call for a quick question or check-in. Longer conversations or off-hours calls in between appointments may be charged an additional fee. Many times, further study and research is required and this can take up to 1 or 2 hours of time. All this is included in the per-appointment consulation fee.

If you have general questions or wish to set up an appointment, please call the office at 206-650-9197.
